Mothers-In-Israel

In the beginning of creation, the book of Genesis Chapter 2:18-23 recorded when Adam was created in the image of the Lord God.

Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. The Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

At the completion of the creation, the Lord God assessed Adam’s situation and reported that “it is not good that Man should be alone, I will make him a helper comparable to him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Adam called his wife “Woman” and we are aware of the next event after their marriage when they were tempted by devil and they failed to keep the God’s commandment.

This event was recorded in Genesis chapter 3 when God responded to the involved parties: to Adam/Woman and the Serpent (the tempter).
Genesis 3 recorded the temptation and fall of Man by serpent. The Lord God placed a cursed on serpent in verse: 14-15 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
  • Adam responded in verse 20 when he renamed the woman based on the demand that the Lord God placed on the Woman and her seed: And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
  • This is the first time that the word of mother appeared in the scripture. The Lord God needed a tool to use to bruise the head of the serpent and demanded seed from the woman to bruise the head of serpent. The verse truly is fascinating providing the very first biblical glimpse of God’s plan of redemption of humankind. The Lord God called Woman to partnership and the focus was on her seed mainly in this great redemption plan. To bruise head is a picture of fatal and final indicating Satan’s ultimate defeat/destruction. Most agree it has its ultimate fulfillment in Christ.
  • From time to time the Bible recorded numbers of women that have partnered with God in their general. They were Mothers in Israel, the Lord God called the nation of Israel as His firstborn (Isaiah 44:23) and His Glory (Exodus 4:22). Therefore, we shall start our references to Mothers that have worked/partnered with God from the generation of God’s firstborn Israel.  We shall examine these Mothers characteristics and pray the same for our lives.
  • The book of Hebrew (Chapter 11:23) reported Jockenbe the Moses’s Mother acted by faith to cooperate with the Lord God’s deliverance agenda.
  • Compassion heart of Pharaoh’s daughter was recorded in the book of (Exodus 2:6) she gave her heart of compassion to play her role.
  • Sarah acted by faith (Heb 11:11).
  • Deborah with great courage and tremendous faith in God (Judges 5:6). She was chosen for the deliverance of Israel as a Mother. We do not know if Deborah, the wife of a man named Lappidoth, was a mother in a literal sense, but this expression was intended figuratively. In effect, the Lord God assigned Deborah to provide the nation with Motherly protection in her own life.
  • Jael, the brave co-worker with Deborah and Barak (Judges4:9) brought down the head of Sisera.
  • Unspeakable heart of love of the great grandmother of our Lord Jesus Christ, Mother Ruth.
  • What should we say about our holy mother Maria; her humility, bravery and submission to the will of the Lord God to fulfill the God’s mandate on the devil? She led her womb and life to the Lord God in fulfillment of redemption plan. The first stage of the devil’s defeat was at the CROSS of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was where Satan was initially defeated, destroyed and rendered powerless (Hebrew 2:14).

 Prayer:

Praise & Thanksgiving - Psalm 100: 1-5

  • Praise and thank God for counting us worthy to be a partaker in His redemption plan. (Gal 3:28: “there is neither Jew or Greek, there is neither Slave nor Free, there is neither Male nor Female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus).
The Bible teaches that our time on Earth is short: “for what is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away” (James 4:14)
Many people may shake mountains with their credentials and build kingdoms with their skills. But in the end, what will count for eternity will not be what we accomplished with our abilities but what God accomplished through us with our FAITH.
(1 Corinthians 3:9 “Labourers together with God) was explained by Pa Osward Chamber when he mentioned the only responsibility left for us is to keep in living constant touch with God, and to see that you allow nothing to hinder your co-operation with Him.
  • Pray against anything or issues even the cares of this world not to hinder your co-operation with the Lord.
  • Help me Dear Lord to pour out my whole-hearted devotion to you and not to fail you wherever you place me.
  • Pray for any virtue you admire from those Women of old and the Grace of God.
