Young Maidens in God’s Hands

Young Maidens are unmarried young women. This is what they were called in the olden days.

To actually intercede for these group of people, it would just be fair to visit the issues that some of them are facing, their challenges etc, before we look at one of the parables in the book of Mathew 25:1-13 (Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins).

Most of the young women who fall into this category are either daughters of believers or unbelievers. Since we are looking at Maidens in the hands of the Lord, we would concentrate on maidens who are believers, those who have had a salvation experience, that is they have publicly declared that Jesus is their Lord and Saviour, even at that they still undergo peer pressure, either in university or at their work places or better still in the community and even in their local assembly.

Some of them in the cause of waiting get entangled with the wrong set of friends, especially those who are from Christian homes but do not have Christian upbringing  peers, the word of God says” Train up a child in  the way he should go and when  he is old, he would not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6, these ones were not taught in the way of the Lord so there is nothing to sustain them as they grow.

When a female child does not have a foundation rooted and grounded in the word of God , especially being taught what Calvary means and the efficacy of the Cross, then the parents especially the mother who is  in charge of the Home front has Missed it, and this could/ would have a devastating effect on the female child as she matures. This could even lead her to making wrong choices in their career and even concerning Marriage, because she would be attracted to carnal attributes in the spouse. Instead of Godly attributes.

The parable of the ten virgins: Matthew 25:1-13

25 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom [a]is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour [b]in which the Son of Man is coming.

This parable most times is used to buttress the saints wait for the second coming of the Lord. We would use part of it to pray for our Maidens.

Prayers:

  • The bible records that there were Ten Virgins, which pre supposes that the ten maidens were pure and chaste, physically they kept themselves. Let us thank God for as many maidens who have kept themselves thus far, that they will receive grace not to defile themselves, despite the carrot from the enemy.
  • Pray that even while they are waiting, they will not go astray, from the Lord, they will keep themselves busy in the kingdom and not be distracted.
  • While they are waiting their Lamps will not lack oil, while they keep themselves under discipleship, they too will become disciplers as well.
  • Pray that they will not be found wanting or locked out when the trumpet shall sound, they would not be entangled with the cares of the world, Carnality will not take them over, they would be focused on Calvary business.
  • They would be like Mahlah, Noah,Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah ( daughters of Zelophehad) who fought for the inheritance of their father, they would stand and make a difference in their own generation. (Numbers 27:1-6).
  • Pray that Calvary will locate these ones and would defend them, they would not have any reason to regret voting for Jesus, but their lives would draw many more to the Cross.
  • Pray that they will receive grace to be faithful to the end, nothing will make them look back in Jesus name.. Jesus will be ALL that they will want and yearn for.
