Young Maidens in God’s Hands

Young Maidens are unmarried young women. This is what they were called in the olden days. To actually intercede for these group of people, it would just be fair to visit the issues that some of them are facing, their challenges etc, before we look at one of the parables in the book of Mathew 25:1-13 (Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins). Most of the young women who fall into this category are either daughters of believers or unbelievers. Since we are looking at Maidens in the hands of the Lord, we would concentrate on maidens who are believers, those who have had a salvation experience, that is they have publicly declared that Jesus is their Lord and Saviour, even at that they still undergo peer pressure, either in university or at their work places or better still in the community and even in their local assembly. Some of them in the cause of waiting get entangled with the wrong set of friends, especially those who are from Christian homes but do n...

Mothers-In-Israel

In the beginning of creation, the book of Genesis Chapter 2:18-23 recorded when Adam was created in the image of the Lord God.  Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. The Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.  At the completion of the creation, the Lord God assessed Adam’s situation and reported that “it is not good that Man should be alone, I will make him a helper comparable to him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of...

The Travailing Women (Lois and Eunice)

Key Text: 2 Timothy 1:1-5 Let us look at the Bible definition of travailing found in John 16:20-22 “ Verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembered no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you” According to our Lord’s explanation on the travailing period, the Lord compared the period or process of bearing pain to bring forth, but the joy of bear forth surpassed the pain process. In other words, means, Endurable Pain for an end result of Joy; Travailing is a manifestation of the grief of the heart for the Joy of the Lord. This morning let us look at the seed that was in the lives of these two women t...

HULDAH: Woman in Travail

2 Kings 22: 8-20/2 Chronicle 34: 22-28   Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. His mother’s name was Jedidah daughter of Adaiah; she was from Bozkath. 2 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and followed completely the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left (2 Kings 22:1-2). Josiah’s Reforms Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the Lord.” He gave it to Shaphan, who read it. 9 Then Shaphan the secretary went to the king and reported to him: “Your officials have paid out the money that was in the temple of the Lord and have entrusted it to the workers and supervisors at the temple.” 10 Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king. 11 When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes. 12 He gav...

Tabitha Arise Ladies Retreat(15 -18th February 2019)/ Jesus Retreats with His Disciples

Matthew 14:22-23 “ Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there”. Perpetually, Jesus withdrew from people, daily life activities, and the demands of His ministry to be alone with the Father and pray. This is how He began his ministry - “At once the Spirit sent [Jesus] out into the desert, and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan.” (Mark 1:12). It’s how He dealt with the constant demands of His ministry and cared for His soul - “Despite Jesus’ plea that his miracles be kept secret, the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” (Luke 5:15-16; also Mark 1:45) It’s how He dealt with grie...

Pressing into destiny like Tamar

To have a good grip of what we are going to pray about this morning, I would like us to read Genesis chapter 38 quickly. 1 It came to pass at that time that Judah departed from his brothers, and visited a certain Adullamite whose name was Hirah. 2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he married her and went in to her. 3 So she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Er. 4 She conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name Onan. 5 And she conceived yet again and bore a son, and called his name Shelah. He was at Chezib when she bore him. 6 Then Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. 7 But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord killed him. 8 And Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.” 9 But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother’s w...
